Capital Law shortlisted for Regional Legal Adviser of the Year at the Private Equity Awards 2021

For the third year in a row, Capital Law has been shortlisted for the prestigious Real Deals Private Equity awards, in the ‘Regional Legal Adviser of the Year’ category.

The Real Deals Private Equity awards are the longest running private equity awards in Europe, and recognise the best in private equity in the continent. The regional legal adviser category focuses on growth of market share, deals advised on, and overall growth of the team and their strategy throughout the unique year that was 2020.

Capital Law’s nomination recognises the private equity expertise of our Corporate team – one of the largest in Wales and operating far beyond. It comes just a couple months after the team was named the most active deal adviser in Wales for 2020, according to Experian.

The team – renowned for its expertise in lower mid-market private equity transactions and thriving tech practice – has been busy advising clients like WestBridge, RJD Partners, Sun Capital Partners, NCL Technology Ventures and the Development Bank of Wales on new investments, as well as supporting 8 investee company clients across a range of sectors on growth capital investments.

Regionally, Capital has been particularly active on deals involving private equity investment, supporting clients across a variety of sectors, on investments from the likes of BGF, Growth Capital Partners, the Development Bank of Wales and Gateway Fund, as well as working with vendors selling their business to private equity backed companies (such as the sale of Glamorgan Telecom Group to LDC-backed Onecom).

Tom Kelleher, partner and head of the Corporate team at Capital Law, said:

During a year like no other and despite all of the uncertainty caused by the pandemic, the private equity market remained very active and demonstrated its versatility in order to get deals done. We have some fantastic private equity clients who remained active throughout 2020, and we were pleased to be able to support them during this challenging period. As the Capital Law private equity practice continues to grow, so does the volume, and size, of the deals on which we support clients and we are delighted to have been shortlisted again for this award.
